Survey on trends & challenges facing startups expanding overseas (conducted in August 2024)

 

Of the 36 startup companies that responded to this survey, approximately 70% have already expanded overseas (established bases). Of these, half began expanding overseas in the past three years (2022-2024), meaning that many of them are in the early stages of expanding overseas. The remaining 30%+ are planning to expand overseas in the near future.

 

Of the companies that have already expanded overseas, 62% have bases in the United States and 50% in Singapore, demonstrating the popularity of these two countries. Looking at the regions with future plans, Southeast Asia comes in at 37%, Western Europe at 20%, and North America at 20%, with some also exploring expansion into other regions such as East Asia and Northeastern Europe.
